On behalf of the staff at Red Bay Primary School (RBPS), we are happy to welcome you to the 2016-2017 academic year! This promises to be a year filled with golden opportunities for all of our students to accomplish much more – reach higher social and academic standards.
We embark on this journey with a pledge to you – important partners in this great movement – that this will be a year of increased productivity. We are determined to facilitate improved collaboration with all stakeholders so that all our targets can be achieved in a reasonable time frame. We will stay connected and focused on the mission to which we are collectively committed.
During the 2016-2017 school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of good work, honored traditions, and continued excellence in education. Our vision remains unchanged.

Our staff of highly qualified professionals and support personnel is committed to providing our students with many opportunities, designed to help them achieve their individual goals. We are mindful that our students' interactions inside and outside of the classroom are similarly important. As such, everywhere our students go they will have learning opportunities. We invite and encourage students and parents to work in partnership with us to seize opportunities in all five facets of our shared vision: academics, the arts, athletics, social-skills building activities, and altruistic endeavors.
We are looking forward to a sustained productive partnership with you. We know that parents understand that in order to be successful in school, children need support from both the home and school.
As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.
We ask that you guide and support your child's learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day's learning experiences
2) completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and beyond
Your Time is Valuable
Please consider joining our school's volunteer program. All of our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school's program and its operations. We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:
· Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom
· Reading with children who need extra help
· School-wide events
· Student recognition events
· Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers
Please know that we highly value home/school communication here at RBPS. It is vital and plays an integral role in each student's success. We encourage you to contact us if or when the need arises. We ask that you stay in touch so that you are constantly informed about your child's studies, assignments, assessments, school activities, and progress.
Parents, we know you want the best for your children. We want the best from them, as well. Creating the conditions that ensure consistent and strong academic growth and social development forms part of the core of our purpose. We are on the same team.
