IBO Mission Statement: The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. The IB PYP programme is an international programme focusing on the holistic development of the child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. At Prospect Primary School our ethos and aims are aligned with this vision. As you go around our school you will see evidence in our practice, displays and our way of being that reflects this.
For Students:
Mrs. Bravo will directly support students through Character Education sessions which look closely at many aspects of the IB learner profile and what it means to take action and how they can make a difference and she will help guide students through the process of taking action and Exhibition. The IB PYP programme develops trans-disciplinary skills such as social, thinking, communication, research and self-management, the purpose is to help our young people develop into global citizens of the world in relation to culture, language, learning and living together.
For the Staff of PPS:
Mrs. Bravo acts as the pedagogical leader for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in the school. She works collaboratively with the Principal to ensure the effective implementation of the Cayman Islands National Curriculum through the Primary Years Framework.
She plays a key role in enhancing student learning by supporting instructional effectiveness through facilitation of teacher planning ,teacher collaboration; individual coaching; professional development, and assessment of programs.
The PYP Coordinator is a key senior member of staff who works closely with all members of the primary team; academy administrators, programme coordinators, lead teachers, and classroom teachers to coordinate, lead and ensure effective curriculum planning and recording. The PYP coordinator works with teachers across the school team to provide guidance and support in the ongoing development and implementation of the Primary Years Programme while ensuring the implementation of the Cayman islands National Curriculum.
