Dear Friend,

Welcome back to the new school year.

I am delighted to be part of the warm and vibrant community that is Prospect and to work with Staff, Students, Parents, PTA, and the Prospect Community to ensure this is the 'best school in the whole wide world'.

Prospect Primary School, in the Cayman Islands, is committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring students, through the use of a child-centered, integrated curriculum, which fosters international tolerance.

Working in partnership with parents, staff, and the community, the school will produce disciplined, competent, technologically proficient life-long learners, who will embrace all cultures and make positive contributions to the global society.

The impact of COVID-19 and the subsequent closer of schools in response came as an unwelcome interruption to life for all of us. But as we look to return to school it is worth reflecting that the inconvenience and hard work that was undertaken to keep education going remotely through March, May, and June was worthwhile to keep these islands safe.

In opening up, we have to ensure that the sacrifices we have all made during the time of 'Shelter in Place' are not jeopardized and so as a community, we have to make a range of adjustments and put in place precautions to:

  • · Keep students and staff safe and healthy
  • · Ensure access and equity to education for all students
  • · Maintain continuity of quality instruction

As the new term begins we will ensure all of our practices are led by the science and following the current best practices guidance, directives, and recommendations from public health officials as regards social distancing and infection control practices. This means that the information contained here can and probably will change over time.

  • We need your support to keep our community safe by:
  • Reinforcing the same safety messages and protocols at home. Helping your child to understand and be comfortable in the 'new normal''.
  • Respect the boundaries and rules put in place at school.
