With the Department of Education closed, the Customer Services Unit with responsibility for registration of students, worked with the website designers to implement online registration of students through the DES website.
Government School teachers facilitated remote learning sessions with students after schools were closed using a range of online tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Classrooms etc
The Department of Education Services and our parent Ministry - Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands, issued a guidance document for schools to plan for the return to the classroom for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The Department of Education Services, schools and generous private sector partners ensured that students who would ordinarily receive free school meals during the school year, continued to have healthy meals delivered daily to their homes.
The Ministry of Education, schools and generous private sector partners commenced a programme to ensure that students who did not have access to technology devices during the school closure period, received laptops to access the online learning sessions.
Once school closures were announced, government schools prepared home learning paper packets for students, to ensure learning continued during the period of school closures.
With the advent of COVID-19, the Department of Education Services has amended the 2020-2021 School Calendar.
